Programs and prices

These are the prices on our website on November 4, 2026. Prices can change; our prices page always has the current ones.

Your dog boards with a professional trainer for two weeks and trains every day. Board and train starts once your dog is at least five months old.

2 Week Board and Train Program

$3,150

Two weeks of daily training: sit, down, place, heel, loose-leash and off-leash walking, come on command with distractions, and greeting, door and meal manners. E-collar included, plus a 2-hour one-on-one session at pickup.

Tracking Board and Train

$3,500

Two weeks from beginning tracking through the basics of urban tracking, held at parks and locations around the area. For lost pet recovery, game recovery and human tracking.

In-home private lessons

One-on-one lessons at your home, where your dog actually lives and behaves. You learn alongside your dog. Lessons start once your dog is at least five months old.

In-Home Basic Obedience

Four private lessons: come, sit, down, place, out, loose-leash walking and off (no jumping). E-collar and leash included.

In-Home Aggressive Dog Training

$2,000

Eight lessons for dogs with aggression or reactivity around other dogs: our basic obedience package plus lessons working with you and your dog around other dogs.

In-Home Therapy Dog Preparation

$2,000

An eight-lesson course that prepares you and your dog for therapy dog testing and certification.

Reward-based foundation

A positive-reinforcement program with no e-collars or prong collars, puppy-friendly from day one.

Basic Marker Mastery

$500

Four weeks, four 1-hour sessions, using markers and clicker training: come, sit, place and loose-leash walking. A 15-foot leash, clicker and slip lead are included.

Puppies

Puppies can start early with socialization and foundation work through Basic Marker Mastery. Formal obedience lessons and board and train start once your puppy is at least five months old. Our puppy training also covers potty training, crate training and bite inhibition. We recommend the right starting point at your free consultation.

What every board and train includes

  • Your dog boards with a professional trainer for the whole program and gets structured training every day.
  • Updates while your dog is with us, with pictures and videos of your dog's progress.
  • On the 2 Week Board and Train Program, a 2-hour one-on-one session at pickup that covers everything your dog does and how to handle them, and an e-collar.
  • Lifetime refreshers after your dog graduates.

Frequently misunderstood facts

  • Board and train and in-home lessons are different. In board and train, your dog stays and trains with our trainer. In-home lessons are one-on-one lessons at your home, where you and your dog train together with a trainer.
  • Our aggressive dog program is in-home lessons. In-Home Aggressive Dog Training ($2,000) is eight lessons for dogs with aggression or reactivity around other dogs.
  • Nobody can promise a complete fix for aggression. Major behavior issues such as dog or people aggression cannot be fully fixed with certainty. We give you control and help you manage them.
  • Formal training starts at five months. Younger puppies start with Basic Marker Mastery, our puppy-friendly reward-based program.
  • Not every program uses an e-collar. Basic Marker Mastery uses no e-collars or prong collars. Our obedience lesson packages and the 2 Week Board and Train include an e-collar.
  • Board and train programs run about two weeks. In-home programs run 4 to 8 lessons. We map out a realistic timeline at your consultation.
  • Card payments carry a fee. PayPal and credit card purchases carry a 3.99% transaction fee.

What Off Leash K9 Training of Charlottesville is not

  • Not online training. Our training is in person: lessons at your home, or board and train with our trainer.
  • Not a quick fix. Programs run from four lessons to two weeks of board and train, followed by practice at home.
  • Not a substitute for veterinary care. A medical issue that affects behavior may need a veterinarian alongside training.
  • Not the same business as other Off Leash K9 Training locations. This page covers the Charlottesville location only, based in Ruckersville, Virginia.
