Obedience Training You Can Trust

Manners and structure that hold up anywhere

A dog that listens at home but falls apart around distractions doesn't have reliable obedience yet. Our obedience programs, part of our full lineup of dog training services, build the manners and structure to keep your dog calm and controllable anywhere: basic commands first, then loose-leash walking, then advanced skills, through one-on-one lessons in your home. For true off-leash reliability, our immersive board and train delivers obedience that comes home locked in, the same path that took Riot from poor recall to dependable off-leash obedience.

What dog owners say

"My dog Mac always pulled on the leash that you would have to run with him. The trainer LeeAnn Gardner did an absolute amazing job that Mac doesn't tug or pull at the leash. He stays by my side and focuses on me during our walks."

William GrahamVerified Google review

"I have nothing but good things to say about this whole experience. My dog went in anxious, reactive and with a huge stubborn streak, and came out confident and obedient."

Alexandra ChinchillaVerified Google review

"I would definitely recommend Off Leash K9 for all your training needs. Landon was amazing! He listened to my concerns/problem areas and has corrected them all."

Obedience training questions

What commands does obedience training cover?

Our basic obedience lessons cover the core commands: come, sit, down, place, out, loose-leash walking, and off (no jumping). The basic & advanced program adds extended-distance commands, heel, watch, through, front, and stand.

How old does my dog need to be for obedience lessons?

Formal obedience lessons start once your dog is at least five months old. Beyond that, we train dogs of all ages, and we regularly help adult and senior dogs too. It is never too late to train your dog.

What is the difference between lessons and board and train?

Obedience lessons are one-on-one sessions in your home, ideal for targeting specific behaviors where your dog actually lives. Board and train is immersive: your dog stays and trains with a professional trainer and comes home with obedience and manners locked in.

How long does obedience training take?

It depends on the program. Our board-and-train programs run about two weeks; in-home lesson programs run 4 to 8 lessons. We will map out a realistic timeline at your consultation.
