Before Charlie went to Off Leash K9 Training, walks had become stressful. He pulled so hard on the leash that I was honestly hesitant to take him because he's incredibly strong and my knees just couldn't keep up. He also got so overstimulated that it was difficult to pet him without him getting overly excited, and seeing another dog meant high-pitched barking because he wanted to go play. We knew he was a good dog, but he needed confidence and guidance, and honestly, so did we.

From the moment we met Tyla, with Off Leash K9 Training, I knew Charlie was in the right hands. She immediately lit up over how adorable he was, and it was obvious that she genuinely loves dogs. That made me relax right away because she wasn't just doing a job. She truly cared about him.

One of my favorite parts of the entire experience was the communication. Every single day we received report cards, videos of Charlie training, and candid photos that showed him having fun and growing more confident. Being away from him for two weeks wasn't easy, but those daily updates made all the difference and gave us so much peace of mind.

When Charlie came home, Tyla spent nearly two hours with us making sure we understood everything he had learned. She walked us through each command, worked through some of Charlie's tougher habits with our own leash, answered every question we had, and made sure we felt confident continuing his training at home. She didn't just train our dog. She trained us to be successful with him.

Since coming home, Charlie has been happier, more responsive, and seems like a more confident dog. We can actually enjoy petting him now, and when we ask him to "heel," he walks exactly the way Tyla taught him. Like any training, it still takes consistency on our part, but the foundation she gave us has made such a difference.

Tyla is patient, funny, knowledgeable, encouraging, and incredibly understanding. I can't recommend her or Off Leash K9 Training enough. They didn't just improve Charlie's behavior. They gave him confidence, and they gave us the confidence to continue building on everything he learned.

Our one year old GSD went to stay with Lauren for a two week training session. He had never been around another dog or had much life experience when we rescued him. She did so much for him with training and commands as well as building his confidence and introducing him to dogs. She helped him learn appropriate behaviors around dogs and people. He has grown so much from his time with Lauren at Off Leash. We bring him everywhere, he meets so many people and dogs of all sizes and he is always so good at sitting and calmly meeting everyone. It’s remarkable how much he has grown and learned and just continues to build on the structure she gave him. I really can’t thank her enough for helping give me the confidence I needed to continue her work.

We had 2 dogs go through the board and train with Lauren in the winter and spring of 2026. We still couldn't be happier. We have been able to ask follow up questions with helpful answers and have scheduled multiple in person follow ups with Lauren. Because of Lauren and her expertise we are able to get the advice and training we need to have 2 happy and well behaved dogs. Continue to highly recommend. It has changed our lives for the better.

SPRING 2026: I am beyond happy with the dog training we received with Lauren. From the very beginning, she was incredibly responsive and more than willing to answer all of my questions before we decided to move forward with the two-week board and train program.

Lauren came highly recommended to me by two different people, and now I completely understand why—I couldn’t be more thrilled with our results. Throughout the training, we received daily updates along with pictures, which gave us so much peace of mind and kept us involved in the process.

When it was time to bring our dog home, Lauren provided thorough instructions on how to maintain the training, and she has continued to be available for questions as we transitioned back to our routine. That ongoing support made a huge difference.

We had a great experience with Off Leash K9 Training in Charlottesville. Our 5 month old puppy did the 2 week board and training. Lauren was incredible and loved our pup like her own. The daily updates with pictures helped keep us updated on progress and made us miss him a little less with the many daily pictures. This course was exactly what we needed to get on the right path and break “naughty” puppy habits. Our pup came back with great foundation and our family was given the tools to sustain the gains when back home. Could not be happier!

We sent our 7mo Doberman for 2 weeks of training and were so lucky to have Lauren as our trainer. She was the absolute best all around before, during and after training was over. Excellent communication skills and we loved the daily report cards and videos she sent to see the progress made. I’d call her a miracle worker for sure as Atlas was a completely different pup after her training. He has been such a joy to take out and enjoy off leash! We also could tell how much she loved our boy as well and that made the experience even more special. If you have the chance to request a trainer, she’d be the one!!

We signed our 1-year-old lab up for the 2-week board-and-train program. It was a bit expensive for us, but we felt it was worth it—especially since their pricing seems in line with the national average. You really do get what you pay for. This was a big investment, but one that benefits more than just the dog.

I’ll admit, it’s a little tough dropping your dog off with someone they’ve never met. They’re likely confused at first, and that part isn’t easy. But you have to push through that because it’s only temporary.

About a week before training started, I spoke with the trainer on the phone for at least half an hour. I went over everything about my dog and what our goals were. I also asked what the first day would look like for her in a completely new environment. LeeAnn explained that the first day isn’t really focused on formal training. Instead, it’s about building trust—helping the dog feel comfortable, safe, and secure with the trainer and the new surroundings.

When we received our daily “report card,” we were pleasantly surprised to see that our dog was already comfortable and had even started some training on her first day with LeeAnn. Each night we got updates showing steady progress. The report cards included details from the day, along with pictures and a video montage. Knowing she was doing well made the whole experience stress-free for us.

Honestly, the dogs get far more attention and enrichment than we could provide in a typical week. She was able to train alongside other dogs and go on outings in the community—much more exciting than being at home while we were at work.

At the end of the two weeks, LeeAnn brought our dog home and spent about 2–3 hours with us going over everything. She showed us how to properly use the e-collar and made sure we understood all the commands our dog had learned.

Overall, it was a great experience. The trainers are clearly true “dog people” who genuinely care about the animals they work with. The two weeks go by quickly, and while the trainers absolutely do the work, it’s important to continue reinforcing the training at home.

This program was a lifesaver for us and really helped establish boundaries for our dog. I highly recommend Off Leash K9 Training to anyone looking for professional dog training. We are very thankful for all of LeeAnn's work with our sweet girl and appreciative for checking in with us after having the dog back home for a few days. Things have been going great. This is our second time using Offleash K9 for training. We felt like our first experience exceeded all of our expectations and then Lauren managed to go even further. Lauren was so good with our dog and exceptional with translating that training to us. I can’t write a good enough review for Lauren. I could go on and on but I will simply say I can’t recommend Lauren enough!

I have a six month old puppy named Kiko and we were having some challenges with house-training and overall behavior. I heard about Lauren Viets from a friend of a friend (Lauren had transformed a very yappy dog into a calm companion). Based on this recommendation, I signed up for a two-week training session with Lauren.
I found Off-leash K-9 training, with Lauren as the trainer, to be very organized and effective in their method and goals. When Kiko came home, I was given a manageable set of commands with which to work with my dog. After the training, Kiko knew all the commands and I've since been working to extend the training into our daily routines. My puppy no longer jumps on people. She also had a habit of peeing when she met new dogs or people - that has stopped. If she wants to partake of our meals I know how to get her to sit in one spot and wait until I release her. This same approach also works when I have a work call. This is but a couple of examples of how the training has really helped manage Kiko's behavior.
I can't say enough good things about Lauren. I can see she loves what she does - training is in her DNA and she is very dedicated to her craft.
One of the great benefits of the program is life-long free refreshers and I've been in touch with Lauren whenever I have questions and she's continued to be very helpful. I'm so pleased with the program and with Lauren as our trainer.

LeeAnn Gardner trained our 7mo Goldendoodle, Dune, earlier this year. He was a typical puppy - playing with his teeth, pulling when walking on leash, barking for attention, etc. We could not believe the change in temperament when he returned from boarding. We can now let him roam the house, walk him offleash and interact with people & dogs without hesitation. LeeAnn changed our life!

We had an amazing experience with Off Leash k9, specifically with Lauren. She was responsive from day one, met us in our home an instantly made us and our dog feel comfortable. We were initially wary about the use of the e-collar, but she let us try it on ourselves and talked through the philosophy so we were comfortable with its use (and ultimately let us decide if it would be used). Now, our very anxious dog is doing SO WELL with the e-collar. We are so grateful for all the time and effort Lauren put into our dog, and can’t recommend her or Off Leash K9 enough!

LeeAnn was a wonderful trainer for our baby girl Rosie. We were very nervous/anxious and worried pet parents when we made the decision to leave Rosie for a two week board and train but LeeAnn put all our worries out of the way. She is kind and gentle and extraordinarily patient with our sensitive (and very stubborn) rescue dog! Rosie was already a calm pup with good manners most of the time, but we went to k9 off leash to help with her recall when off leash as well as her on leash manners and to polish up her obedience. Rosie came back to us with an excellent grasp of her obedience, no more leash pulling at all and essentially perfect off leash recall. We specifically were worried about the negative feedback of the e-collar effecting Rosie’s sensitive personality, and although she doesn’t like getting the gentle feedback taps- she is getting more and more used to wearing her collar all the time and is starting to realize that we will hold her accountable to listen and follow through with her commands! We don’t ask as much from her as LeeAnn did every day! We are thankful for LeeAnn’s patience and hard work with our stubborn sweet girl! Rosie is doing great and we are practicing every day.

Leeann was knowledgeable, patient, and friendly. She was easy to communicate with; we felt like we had known her for years. Leeann was in constant communication with us during the 2 weeks of board and train with nightly report cards on Maggie’s progress, eating/health updates, and videos of what they did that day. This was a huge plus in the process as we enjoyed seeing our pup making such wonderful progress in LeeAnn’s care. We could also see that Maggie formed a strong bond with LeeAnn almost immediately.

We brought our 5 month old Irishdoodle Maggie for training help. Maggie can be stubborn and we were having a difficult time communicating with Maggie with what we wanted her to do.
Within 2 weeks, LeeAnn had transformed our puppy in to a more responsive and obedient pup. For example, we were never able to walk Maggie outside on a leash without constant pulling. Maggie was also bad about jumping on guests and us. After 2 weeks with LeeAnn, Maggie does not pull when walking a leash (in heel command) and she does not jump on people. She has provided us with the tools we need to work with Maggie daily to become the best pup she can be.

The training has made a hug difference in our lives and we highly recommend Off Leash K9 training.

I left my 1 year old pup Ace with LeeAnn for two weeks of training. I received daily emails including pictures, a video, and notes of everything ace was doing and how he was doing it! She always asked if she could give him something other than food , ex; pumpkin for loose stools, pup cup for a reward 🙂 She showed me everything that was taught and how to maintain it in daily life within 3 hours of Aces pickup. Ace would jump, bark, chew, not listen to commands etc. When he got back I continued to take him on our daily walk, and to parks where people, dogs, and SQUIRRELS would be passing by. He has learned to not build up so much excitement on things he cannot do like going up to people and possibly jumping on them, meeting dogs and going too crazy. He stopped chewing furniture, I love this because he now knows how to relax and he given attention when oriented, instead of asking for it by wrecking the house. I myself couldn’t train Ace, but I can keep up the training he was taught which everyone needs to know how to do. it’s not a 2 week thing then done. But he has shown massive improvement to the entire family and everyone is so proud of him😊 Family before me gave Ace up and wanted him to go to the pound before I got him because he was “too much.” I really love him and spent the money to give him the best training needed for him and myself. I have no regrets and i’m very fulfilled with everything Ace has learned.

Lauren is a terrific teacher/trainer. Maggie loves her. She learned so much and has retained everything!

We had an overall incredible experience working with Lauren! She was able to make progress in areas that we have struggled with for months and months with our girl. We had accepted that our dog's lack of recall and car anxiety meant she was best left at home, but Lauren has given us newfound confidence to take our girl on adventures.

The photos/videos of the day's training and field trips each night were the highlight of the board & train experience, and the instructions throughout the process were very clear, allowing us to take over and keep up the good momentum that Lauren started.

I can’t say enough good things about Off Leash k9 training, and especially our trainer, Jacob. Our dog was anxious and had a hard time handling himself and other dogs and distractions. After two weeks with Jacob, we have a confident dog who knows what we want him to do!! Thank you for bringing out the best in our dog!!

Excellent training with daily updates, videos, pictures that are easy to apply at home after the training. My dog(nimbus) is so much better at listening the first time he is asked to do something. 5/5 training

Had a fabulous experience. My dog came home with a set of useful commands, but more importantly, they gave me the tools and confidence to understand how to communicate with my dog. We are both able to enjoy the outdoors with confidence and she still has her great personality, but also understands her boundaries. Would highly recommend their services.

We are so very pleased and grateful to Tyla for the amazing and wonderful training she provided to our 10 month old golden retriever named “Boomer”.
We were struggling and very concerned that we could not keep Boomer because he was so hard for us to manage. Boomer has anxiety, and was afraid of trucks, noises, people , new places, chewing on furniture, etc. It was very difficult to take him out in public.
We were anxious and nervous about Boomer going to boarding and training school. Tyla took the time to explain to us what we could expect from Boomer’s training and reassured us that she would take good care of him. And, she did just that and more!!
Tyla’s training has been the best thing ever for Boomer and us.
We are amazed and speechless with Boomer’s progress after two weeks of training with Tyla. Boomer is more confident, he listens and follows commands, he's calmer, able to play and relax and seems much happier overall. This is all Thanks to Tyla’s hard work and Excellent training. Tyla sent us a daily report card with videos, pictures, and a detailed report of Boomer’s training, which was very helpful and made us feel like we were a part of his training.
We are so grateful that Boomer is able to spend quality time with us when we’re sitting in the living room or in the kitchen, which he could not do before. He is not jumping up on us, not taking things off the counters. There is no yelling which is so wonderful. 😊 He listens and is able to follow our commands. Tyla spent a lot of time training us in the turnover so we can continue to train Boomer and build his skills. From start to finish, Tyla has be great, so passionate, professional, thoughtful, kind, Patient and willing to go the extra to make sure our dog was well trained. We are very happy with the training our dog received. We would highly recommend Tyla to anyone who is looking for an excellent dog trainer. Needless to say, we are keeping our Boomer!!!!

I was a little nervous about the E Collar at first because my boy is a Service Dog but we've had issues with reactivity in public. But he took to his training 100% better than I imagined. Tyla was so wonderful with him for the 2 week board and train and did things with him I never thought possible given his past history. I also loved how informed she kept me everyday with the pictures videos and reports of his progress and things they were working on. His confidence is up and you can see in his eyes how proud he is of himself for doing such a good job. We've been able to walk around stores without the issues we were having before and now that he's not panicking about what's happening around him he can focus more on me and being the best service dog.

Edit: I recently boarded my boy with Tyla. She is absolutely amazing with him. I got daily updates and pictures of things they worked on, or fun play time moments. Its so reassuring for me to be able to leave my baby with someone who cares so much about him and his well-being. He gets so excited to see her. I highly recommend!

Kayla was a great trainer for our dog to learn obedience!

I have nothing but good things to say about this whole experience. My dog went in anxious, reactive and with a huge stubborn streak, and came out confident and obedient. She has started to really learn impulse control and corrects herself before we have to. Walks used to be a nightmare because she would pull so hard. Now she walks right next to us. I feel so happy that I can share my life even more with my pup.

Our trainer was LeeAnn, and I genuinely am forever grateful for her. Not only did she help my baby be more confident and trust us more, but we could genuinely tell she cared about our dog. LeeAnn was incredibly sweet and patient with our Nuggy, and never failed to give us the BEST report cards, pictures, and feedback. There was never a moment where I felt like my dog wasn’t being cared for and loved properly. During pick up, when we were learning the commands, LeeAnn was incredibly helpful and patient with us too. Even now, we can reach out to her whenever we have doubts or want to make sure we are doing something correctly.

At first, I was worried that the result wouldn’t be worth the price, but it is SO WORTH IT. I would have never been able to train her the way she is now and I am so grateful that my girl is confident and is forming a trust bond with me.

The entire family was concerned she might come back and not be her silly goofy self anymore, but we couldn’t have been more wrong. She is, in many ways, able to be even more goofy and silly.

We are planning on getting a second puppy in the future, and are already planning to specifically request LeeAnn. Forever grateful for how kind she has been to us and our pup.

So happy with my experience with OLK9, but more importantly with LeeAnn. My girl Nuggy has never been more full of life!!
