Before Ace found his person, the family who had him wanted to send him to the pound. He was, they said, “too much.” His new owner saw a dog worth investing in and brought him to Off Leash K9 Training Charlottesville to give him the best shot possible.
You can read Ace’s full review on Google – it is a story about not giving up on a dog.
Where Ace Started
Ace was one year old and full of habits that make a young dog hard to live with. He jumped. He barked. He chewed the furniture. He did not listen to commands. His owner is candid about not being able to train him alone.
The Training Journey
Ace spent two weeks with our trainer LeeAnn in the Board & Train program. His owner received a daily email with pictures, a video, and notes on everything Ace was working on and how he was doing. LeeAnn asked first before giving Ace anything beyond his regular food, whether that was a little pumpkin for his stomach or a pup cup as a reward.
At pickup, LeeAnn spent about three hours showing his owner everything Ace had learned and how to keep it going in daily life.
Ace’s Wins
Back home, his owner kept up their daily walks and trips to parks, with people, dogs, and squirrels passing by. Ace has learned not to build up so much excitement over things he cannot do, like rushing up to people or other dogs. He stopped chewing the furniture. He knows how to relax now, and he gets attention when he is settled instead of asking for it by wrecking the house.

What It Changed for His Family
His owner says Ace has shown massive improvement to the entire family, and everyone is proud of him. His owner is also clear about what comes next: “It’s not a 2 week thing then done.” Training Ace alone was out of reach, but keeping up the training he was taught is not. His owner has no regrets.
Why Ace’s Story Matters
A lot of dogs are given up for being “too much” when what they really need is structure and someone willing to follow through. Ace had both. At Off Leash K9 Training Charlottesville we are honest that the two weeks are the start, and Ace’s owner is proof of what happens when a family carries the work forward.
