One of the most common worries we hear at Off Leash K9 Training Charlottesville is this: “Will training change my dog’s personality?” Nuggy’s family worried about exactly that. Her story is the best answer we could give.
You can read Nuggy’s full review on Google – her family tells it better than we ever could.
Where Nuggy Started
Nuggy arrived anxious, reactive, and – in her family’s own words – with a huge stubborn streak. Walks were a nightmare. She pulled so hard that what should have been the best part of the day had become something to dread.
The Training Journey
Our trainer LeeAnn took Nuggy’s case personally. She was patient and sweet with a dog who needed both, and she kept Nuggy’s family in the loop the whole way – nightly report cards, pictures, and honest feedback. At pickup, LeeAnn walked the family through every command until they felt confident too. Even after training ended, she stayed available whenever they had questions.
Nuggy’s Wins
Nuggy came home confident and obedient. She’s learning real impulse control – her family says she now corrects herself before they have to step in. The dog who once dragged them down the street now walks right beside them.

What It Changed for Her Family
The family’s biggest fear never came true. Nuggy didn’t lose her silly, goofy self – if anything, they say she’s goofier now, because she’s confident enough to relax. Her owner puts it simply: “My girl Nuggy has never been more full of life.” They’re already planning to request LeeAnn for their next puppy.
Why Nuggy’s Story Matters
Good training doesn’t flatten a dog’s personality – it frees it. An anxious dog spends her energy worrying. A confident dog spends it living. That shift, from surviving walks to enjoying life together, is why we do this work at Off Leash K9 Training Charlottesville.
